Moving day is here.

The closets are full of skeletons and all that baggage, so I'm taking off!

I'm outta here!

Anyone want to come with me?

Get drunk and take pictures!

Ever look at a photo and say "WTF?!"? It seems alcohol makes your camera take some really funky shot that you can only truly relive by having another drink!

Here is your chance to experience it for yourself. Whether your on flickr or have a blog (perhaps both), there is a meet-up at The Highlander Wednesday night. Time is 7:30 pm. I have been informed via Mingaling that they have wi-fi.

Bring those cameras, bring your laptop, bring you liver (or what's left of it) and come see everyone for a fun night out!

Here are some pictures from prior flickr & blogger meet-ups:

Fun Filled Weekend, so far!

Finally! After what seems like a solid month of rain, the clouds broke and the sun came out. The day started with a visit to Atlanta Botanical Gardens to see the Locomotion exhibit. Overall, the gardens are beautiful. The locomotion exhibit seemed small upon initial impression, but once we started looking at the details of the exhibit, it was quite interesting. Many local landmarks were created in miniature using plant materials. Turner field was quite interesting. The picture is below:
Atlanta Botanical Gardens - Turner Field

After looking at the exhibit, we headed indoors to see the orchids. My favorite is this one:
Atlanta Botanical Gardens - My favorite of the day.

The day was finished out at the Virginia Highlands Summerfest. Lots of people. Lots of art. Lots of food. Lots of beer. The crowd was a bit tedious at times, but manageable for the most part. Many of the artist I had seen at the Decatur Arts Festival a week before.

Tomorrow is the Roswell Photo Stroll. We are expecting a big crowd and I hope to have some neat pictures to post.

Dieting

Breakfast

In the past three days I've had the worst food imaginable.

Tuesday - no food until dinner: Red Bull and a package of cookie dough.
Wednesday - no food until dinner: Chicken Quesadilla, cheese dip and a beer at La Fonda
Then more beer and a breadstick at Rocky Mountain Pizza
Today - no food until lunch: a double Whopper with extra cheese, large fries and coke.
Snack time was peanut butter cups and another coke.

Finally as I write this, I'm enjoying an ice cold Barq's root beer.

Without putting myself on a schedule, or limiting myself to a specific start date, I've decided that soon it will be time to consider changing my dietary habits. Soon I will have a need for things like fiber, protein, generally good nutrition and exercise. So, with that said at some point I will start. I've heard of the boot camp option, I've heard of healthy eating, even meal planners that give you a complete shopping list, recipes and pointers on a well balanced diet/exercise plan.

I'm tossing these ideas around not to lose weight (I've been told by a professional that I need to gain about 10 lbs to be at an ideal weight), in the interest of bettering myself for a healthy, happy outlook on life in general. You can't feel good unless you feel good about yourself kinda thing.

If anyone out there in netville has any suggestions, or experiences, I'd love to hear them. My habits need a change for the better.

Two steps to dinner!

Dinner

I am in an extremely lazy mood tonight. So much so, that I skipped my weekly trivia with friends because I didn't want to think. I came home, put the iPod on shuffle all songs and turned up the volume. While staring at the wall I got hungry. I thought of ordering a pizza but the decisions were overwhelming. Next thought was Tuna Helper, but that involved a pan and utensils and multiple ingredients and most of all time!

I ended up standing and staring into the freezer. Shrimp needs to be dethawed, steaks involved too much work and chicken, well I'm kinda sick of chicken. Then it jumped out at me...Nestle Toll House Ultimates - Peanut Butter (protein), Chips and Chocolate Chunks (dairy) cookie dough. I quickly looked at the nutrition facts and read the first two words - Nutrition Facts and decided that this was a good choice because of the fact it had "nutrition" in the title.

Upon looking at the directions, a two step process: "1) Just Break..." then it had other words in small print followed by "2)...and Bake!". Well step 2 was a no go, so I just made up my own - "2)...and Eat!".

But I found that the cookie dough made me thirsty. Water was too bland, Gatorade required a glass - ah Red Bull. Convenient and easy to open...and there are two left.

Anyone up for a jog to Florida?

Graffiti and other found things.

Time to make the crack...er,...donuts

Early this morning five friends from flickr met at a local Starbuck for a graffiti stroll around a nearby highway overpass. Our goal was to capture some of the fabulous designs and catch some of the tags around the area. Many of those pictures can be found here.

Although the graffiti walk lasted most of the morning, what captured our attention the most was a pile of bags that looked like they had been snatched, rummaged through and discarded. As we walked by, it was obvious that most of the stuff was still inside one of the bags. Immediately apparent in an open pocket were syringes, a spoon and lighter. Using sticks, we tipped the bag until it's contents fell out. Inside were all the belongs of what appeared to be those belonging to your average teenage girl: stereo head phones, a journal with phone numbers of friends, a book and a few hygiene products. In addition we found the empty herione bag, cooking spoon lighter and needles, as well as unused condoms, energy bars and hand sanitizer. Some of the contents can be seen here and here.

This find was the most disturbing because of the conflicting ideas of a young school girl violently colliding with the harsh realities of drugs. While we poked at the bag and took pictures of our find, we discussed several scenerios ranging from innocent school girl's bag is stolen, to horrifying thoughts of such a young girl strung out on drugs. Although there were "middle ground" stories, the two extremes kept running through my mind.

Thanks for all the support!

Wow! I didn't mean to scare everyone. I simply haven't been feeling like myself lately. Less than a month ago I took this photo of Shadow & I on hike in North Georgia. Walking in the woods is very calming for me. If only I was feeling well enough to venture out this weekend, things would be different. I just need alone time.

As for now, I'm home sick. Dad and Sis have been taking good care of me - Chicken Soup and lots of Gatorade! BOTTOM LINE: I'm fine! The amount of work I need to do, the amount of cleaning around the house, the amount of yard work and things I'd like to do to help my family are simply weighing heavily on me right now. Things are getting better, they've got to get better!

Sorry to scare so many people! Thank you all for the e-mails and phone calls. I am blessed to have such great friends.

With a smile!

Disconnected

Unplugged

Lately, I have felt disconnected. My emotions seem to be all over the board, I have very little motivation, my long-term outlook only reaches several hours and I have no real appetite. My attention span only lasts a few minutes past the start of a project, yet every project needs to be done. My priorities are out of whack and I feel like the activities, or jobs, I do are only a diversion - busy work.

The ability to convince myself of the importance in completing work, doing chores and basically getting off my butt has simply vanished. My internal clock is b0rked, and I'm wide awake at 3am, sound asleep by 9am and most active sometime after 3pm. Something's gotta give. I've told numerous people I would call, yet haven't. I've made plans, but only remembered them moments before they start. My physical health has been struggling and I can barely talk right now.

If only I could take a weekend for myself, do nothing, plug myself back in, reboot. No tv, no internet, no phone, no itinerary. If only I could feel like me again.

Photostrolling and flickr meetup

Hand in my beer

This weekend started off with me being sick, but fortunately I was well enough to make it to the photostroll on Sunday and the meetup on Monday. The stroll was a success, all things considered. We had about 13 people, the largest group yet, that all went off in different directions to take pictures. This stroll was tested several limits: 1) security at various points was not happy to see a "group" of photographers, 2) the size of the group pushed the limits of being able to just walk into a restaurant without a reservation (thank goodness it wasn't a busy time), 3) the overall area covered was relatively large compared to past strolls and time became a factor for some (mainly because the stroll was linear and the walk back to the car was lengthy) and 4) the overcast sky seemed to give a dreary feel to the some of the photos.

The stroll was fun and no one complained about it, in fact everyone wanted to know when the next one would be and where! There were multiple requests to hold the strolls more often, like every two weeks. Thanks to everyone who attended! I appreciate the feedback and constructive criticism.

The flickr meet-up was organized by bump and the crowd there was the best yet for a meetup! Some had to leave early, but there ended up being about ten people there, too. Frontpage News in Midtown was the spot and the patio was great! It all started at 7 pm and the last of us trickled out around 11 pm. The meetups are different from the strolls in that we stay in one spot and just get to know other people with a similar interest in flickr, or even work or play. Something interesting is how two people won't know each other, but have a third person in common. This seems to have happened on more than one occasion.

In short it was great end to the weekend. Hanging out with new people, learning lots of things I didn't know and enjoying the weather - regardless of how grey it was on Sunday!

Upcoming or past events! (depending on when you read this)

Natural Light
Wishing for wonderful weather!

Ok, so work is busy and I'm back to my weekend social schedule!
Tonight's events should be fun, I'm going to see a band that I haven't seen in quite some time - Elevado. This is a big CD release for them. According to the website: "This album documents elevado's transformation into a fully fledged live touring band. It was recorded in Commerce, GA at Radium Recording with Chris Bishop." Also performing tonight will be Dames Aflame. Should be a fun night.

Saturday will be low key, but Sunday will be the flickr photo stroll. Depending on the weather, this might be the biggest group yet!

Any ideas on what I should do Saturday?

Back to work and other exciting news!

Ending my sad times on a high note, I went out this weekend and surrounded myself with friends and new acquaintances. Maybe I was a little over the top, but I enjoyed being around upbeat people and in a fun environment.

My weekend really got kicked off Saturday by helping Head Trauma move a couch! I assisted by standing far enough away and telling him to watch out for walls, doors and telling him not to drop it. For the most part he did fine. So, if you ever need really heavy furniture moved and don't want to pay for it - call him and I'll supervise. Together we do a great job! Once he loaded the couch into the truck, I had to do the whole supervising thing over again at his house! Exhausting!

From there we rested at my house playing a few PS2 games. We have this thing about selecting one player games and one of us directing the other on what to do. It works great for about 10 minutes before one of us gets totally pissed at the other for barking orders. The controller gets tossed, and then we calm down to start the cycle all over again. We could, and have, done that for days without sleep! (Red Bull is a GOOD THING)

After a brief couple of hours playing games I met andersenKT at Taqueria del Sol for a bite to eat and welcome her back state side. We laughed, we talked, we ate - but we didn't drink - until later but I'll get to that in a minute.

After lunch I headed over to a local park to see a wonder young lady celebrate her 6th birthday. My lunch ran a little late, so I missed the HUGE kickball game, but did make it time to see about a dozen three foot tall kids ingest two foot long Pixie Stix! Oh, their parents loved that I'm sure. But don't worry there was plenty of soda to wash it down with, and then cake and ice cream.

Time was really crunched all day and before I knew it, it was time for the Derby Party being held by family friends. When I got to that party, the front yard was innundated with kids ranging in age from several months to teenagers. Inside the adult party was in full swing with catered food and big screen tv to watch the Kentucky Derby! A fun time!

Unfortunately the close proximity to the office drew me in like a magnet, so I had to stop by on my way home to get some things in order for Monday. While I was there bobafred called and invited me out to Park Tavern for a drink. He said bump was going to be there. We hung for awhile, but decided to meet up at Hand in Hand. That's went we met up with andersenKT and one of her friends. bobafred called some others (names slipped me at the moment) and our little hang out turned into a good crowd.

Today was Mother's Day and it ended up being a little down for me. I stayed at home and didn't do anything all day. (except for having dinner with friends who just got back in town) Now, I'm preparing to return to work tomorrow and get back to a "real schedule". We'll see how it goes.

APWBWGTTD

Tonight I attended my first "Atlanta People With Blogs Who Get Together To Drink" meeting at Manuel's Tavern. The weather was threatening outside, but the people were inviting inside.

I have become terrible with remembering names, but thankfully Mingaling brought name tags! It was fun meeting everyone tonight and I'm looking forward to the next event.

Dining out for Life

Tonight several friends got together for dinner at a local restaurant - Surin in Va-Hi. On this night 20% of the proceeds were donated to Project Open Hand by this restaurant and many others. I missed last years, but am glad to have made it out tonight.

After dinner we headed over to Manuel's Tavern for a few drinks and to basically chill out. I haven't seen these friends in several months, so it was good to catch up with them. One friend is heading to the Bahamas this weekend and another is beginning a busy summer of travel all over the country.

Strolling and being social

Photo Stroll 3 Participants

This year I have met some really awesome people and made so many new friends. In the past few months I have become very active with a photosharing website known as flickr. So much so that I have organized events known as "photo strolls". I guess I must be doing something right in the coordinating because the size of the group has grown every time from three at the first stroll to nine this past Sunday.

The photo strolls are geared toward meeting new people, seeing new places and taking pictures of the world around us. I've met so many new and wonderful people. It even turns out one such person is a neighbor. The people pictured here are (from left to right) bobafred, anselpixel, lazaro, me, studio antwan, gudguds, OWK, Justin and Head Trauma.

For this particular stroll we met in downtown Decatur. Shortly after meeting and going through a few introductions we split into two groups. One went west and the other south and east. The most interesting thing is how everyone caught different perspectives. What one person walked by, another would catch and snap pictures. Everyone had different cameras from my "point and shoot" PowerShot to near professional quality gear.

Discussions ranged from techniques and equipment to what each of us does for fun. I encourage anyone in the Atlanta area to come out and join us, or start a stroll in your neighborhood. They are lots of fun!

Forget the end, it was a week!

My weekend trip turned into a week! I was visiting aunts, uncles, cousins, second-cousins, and friends in Chicago. What a great time! I got to spend quality time with relatives that used to pinch my cheeks and tell me how cute I was at the time. Long story short, my cheeks got pinched and they told me how cute I was when I was little. Guess I got ugly! Oh well.

I ate my way through Chicago. From the time I got off the plane until I boarded the return flight it seemed I did nothing but eat! (There was drinking, but I behaved) Now I'm back and I'm going to bed. No more eating for a week!

Off for the weekend.

Things have been hectic lately. Taking care of health matters and family matter has really taken a toll on me. Just a few hours ago I realized that I have a flight to catch later today! How time flies.

I'm off to Chicago to visit with family and friends for the weekend. Since there has been so much going on, all I want to do is chill out and be with family. So, that is what we have planned. Burgers and beer. Joking and laughing. But first and foremost, connecting with family that I haven't really gotten to know.

Off I go, a last minute trip that was planned over a month ago. Hopefully I will have some good pictures when I return.

Family Matters

My family is very close. 2005 has turned out to be our worst year. We've had two deaths in our family in less than two months. I won't be posting for here for awhile, but photography is kind of a therapy for me so I might be posting some things to Flickr.

Sorry I don't have my weird sense of humor right now. It's all meant in fun and light-heartedness, so please read below to see some of it.

My new found pet!

Very Rare

In my neighborhood today a young lady set up what I thought was a lemonade stand. With a pocket full of change I headed down to get a belly full of lemonade. Much to my surprise she wasn't selling lemonade. Instead she was selling VERY RARE "Oragami" Jumping Frogs.

Well, I was skeptical at first, but she kindly demonstrated the amazing distance that these very rare frogs could jump. Not only that, but she also made certain I understood how difficult the frogs were to make!

I was tempted to buy the whole lot of frogs she had, but realistically I couldn't care for that many frogs. (I already have a dog and he might mistake them as snacks.) With no hesitation I handed over my 25 cents and picked the prettiest orange frog. Carefully I placed it in my pocket and went on my way.

Together Frog (that's what I named it, and I call it "it" because I can't tell a frog's sex) and I went on a tour of downtown Decatur. We stopped by the fire station to see if Frog could get a ride on a fire truck or ambulance, but our favorite EMTs were not working so we couldn't get a ride. Frog got really sad, so to cheer it up I took it to Jake's Ice Cream and Muncheteria. Still sad, Frog didn't have much of an appetite, so I ended up eating the whole bowl of Key Lime Piescream.

Still trying to cheer up Frog from my empty promise of the fire truck ride, I took it to the square for a bit of people watching. That seemed to cheer it up a bit. We checked out the Brick Store, but Frog didn't have an ID, so we got kicked out. Frog just laughed it off, but I could tell it was a little bothered by not fitting in.

Well, what better way to cheer someone up than to go SHOPPING!! We went on our merry way to Decatur CD and spent nearly $50 on cd's and a magazine. Frog was happy, but I was a little put out by it's spending habits! (This could be an expensive pet.)

A little disgruntled over my new pets spending habits and the weather looking like rain at any minute, I got a little pissy and insisted we head for home. I wanted to go straight home, but Frog wanted to make a detour by a creek to see if it saw anybody it recognized. It didn't so we came home.

Now it's dinner time and I realized I didn't get "care and feeding" directions from the young lady. Oh dear! What next?

Flickr Withdrawl

Oh. My. God. Today, for some reason I could not get into Flickr. I repeatedly clicked my home icon on the browser (yes my homepage is Flickr), then I tried going to my favorites where the first thing listed if Flickr, then I tried opening another browser window to Flickr, then I got on my laptop and tried to access Flickr. When none of those worked I called a buddy of mine to see if he could get into Flickr. He was stuck in traffic, so he couldn't access Flickr. I insisted that he pull into the nearest coffee shop to see if he could log into Flickr. Dumb butt that he is, he said he had to get home. Apparently the urgency of not being able to get into Flickr was over his head.

Frantically I tried Flickr again on the desktop and laptop. Dare I say, I tried another site to make sure my internet connection was working. It was. So I tried Flickr again. Still no Flickr. Not knowing what to do, I called my friend back and insisted that he try to access Flickr, NO MATTER WHAT!!! He tried to calm me down by telling me to go take pictures, then when Flickr was back on line I would have something to upload. Like WHAT KIND OF ADVICE IS THAT?!?!?! I hung up on him! How dare he suggest such a childish thing. I would much rather be there the INSTANT Flickr came back online. Hmmph, what does he know?

Update, I just checked Flickr and they're not back yet. Hold on.....yep the laptop confirms it, Flickr's not up. Well, I've got to cut this short and go to my neighbors to see if they can get on Flickr. If they can't I've got several other options/neighbors to check on. Wish me luck!

Girl Scouts will be the death of me!

I have absolutely nothing against the Girl Scouts, THAT'S the problem! I just want to eat Girl Scout cookies morning, noon and night! If they could come up with a Tagalongs IV, I'd be the first in line. There is a website that lists the varieties of cookies being sold. I've had to replace two monitors due to "bite-thru" problems. (Who knew that wasn't covered under warranty?)

A buddy and I were leaving a store one innocent day and were suddenly accosted by numerous four foot tall Girl Scouts. Out of pure fear I handed over all my money and received several boxes of goodness. See, I was so afraid someone else would get them before I did. With my arms full of the wonderous delights. I pleaded for my friend to hand over his money, too! I didn't want to see him hurt by having his cookies sold out from under him. To my delight he complied. Poor guy, I wouldn't be able to stand it if something like that ever happened to him. After that altercation, we went on our merry way to find licorice whips. (Don't ask!)

The cookies are so good, I've started my own test kitchen to see what kind of creations I can come up with. A few ideas include Chicken a'la Tagalong, Somoa Lamb Chops (get it? some mora?), Do-si-do Satay, and Lemon Cooler Pot Roast. So far, no luck, but if I can ever stop eating the cookies first I'm sure things will progress rapidly.

Foolish Pranks for a Fools Day

Today, actually several nights ago, there was a slight conspiracy against a very, very good friend of mine. It was something that had to be done. This guy went on a cruise and didn't even try to smuggle me on board! Oh the nerve, oh the humanity! How could I ever get him back? Well, it took just a quick e-mail and willingness of the other party to stoop to my level and presto - MAGIC! He saw the humor in it and even added a few notes of his own.

Not much going on over at my end. Hope your end isn't as clogged as mine. People have asked me recently, where to I come up with this stuff? Well, when you're sitting on the john, there is plenty of time to think! Perhaps that's what is meant by "bathroom humor" or, dare I say "potty mouth". I don't even want to begin to speculate on where the latter came from! Perhaps someone was walked in on while chewing on a commode, I dunno. (I've always locked the door so that doesn't happen.)

Sorry this is so short, but I'm really tired. After all I just woke up and that takes alot out of me. I'm going to sleep it off.

I'm beginning to like sick days!

This isn't one of those blogs where I tell you what I had for lunch (half-a-bag of Dorito's), what I did last night (slept) and who's dating who (Jay loves Dianne, who is in love with Michelle, but Jay doesn't know it. Little does he know THAT is called...OPPORTUNITY!!! Do it dude!). That stuff is just boring. MY BLOG is totally different. With that said:

Last night I got lots of sleep, sleep and more sleep. Woke up this morning and picked lint from my belly button. Let the dog out, where he peed right on the step! See it was raining this morning, so he didn't want to get his feet wet. Little did he know, his feet got wet from something other than the rain! Dumb dog.

Ok, I'll have to admit I've done that before, too. But I was under the influence of alcohol. (I won't mention the other six or so times before last night!) So, this sick day thing is kinda catchy. Come on by and I'll share it with you. Then we can pee on our feet together. Oh, damn. Did I just type that?

Seriously, we had some bad rain in Atlanta last night and I hear tomorrow's gonna be bad as well. Puddles in the yard, puddles in the house (see above) and I just can't get over being wet. All this rain makes me want to stay inside, watch porn (never to sick to spank!), decide if I want to eat the rest of the Dorito's or the cold pizza from last month, and work on my belly button lint collection. (Glass display case is on back order)

Until a different thought process comes along, I'll just blog about food, last nights activities and relationships. Oh, I just got a new idea: "Spanking" injuries. Like serious hamstrings, accidental self-inflicted punches and falling off the refridgerator. I'll sit on that one for awhile though.

Wednesday, March 30, 2005

Just another (sick) day!

When you stay home all kinds of weird stuff happens to the place you normally leave. First, I noticed the dog gets pissed because he can't watch his puppy porn! Yeah, like he'll do THAT in front of me. Humping something is one thing, but proving he can work the DVD is another. (I can tell when he does watch it because the remote is all wet. But I trick myself into believing it's just dog slob!) If you're ever over, don't touch the blankets either!

Anyway, the wonderful people from the local church came by to "Spread the Word" and when I welcomed them in to "Spread the Germs" THEY closed the door. Was it something I said? What? If I was feeling up to it I would have persisted in following them down the street, but maybe next time.

Then there are the neighbors. Ooh, lots of fun to be had there. Who's doing the milkman, the postman, the package delivery guy and the meter reader(s)? Well, I'm not going to name names, or point fingers - but they all stopped at ONE house today! (And the meter was just read last week, too. Not that I follow these things.)

Forget television, the world around me is far better entertainment. Well, I need to go borrow some milk and pickup some mis-delivered mail at my neighbors house. I'll be back in say 20 min...no...an hour.

Tuesday, March 29, 2005

Well, Damn!

First - IGNORE everything to the right except the Flickr thingy - we all need Flickr!

Now - Looks like it's been awhile since I've been around. Let's see what has happened in that time.

Well, I worked, then I took some vacation before going back to work, then I had a few dates after work, when they didn't work out (due to too much work) I focused on work. Then I started hanging out at work alot, did some travel with work, then the holidays came. I got presents, I gave presents, then the year ended. That's about when Hell started. Oops, backing up I met a special someone in October, then she left me because of my baggage, but atleast she got her presents for the holiday's and birthday.

Ok, so Hell started when she left, then I had an immediate family member die, now another immediate family member is close to that point. But on the bright side, I'm still sober except for when I drink. Then I'm not. Seriously though, I've met some new friends, found out who my REAL friends are and rekindling old friendships out of the ordeal. Seems through all of their losses and tragedies in their lives that I never really understood, but believe me I DO NOW!

So, here I am today. Addicted to Flickr and finding a side of me I never knew I had. Apparently some people like my work, some people who know me didn't know I had such deeply shallow thoughts. But I do. My heart is often on my sleeves and my soul an open book. I don't get deeply emotional over politics, but offend a friend and I'm in your face.

I sling it when it needs to be slung, I can sling it when it needs to be cradled and I can sling it back with my feet up like nobody else.

I'll try to be more regular, that's why I've stocked up on metamucil.

See ya around.

Discage south of ATL

How horrific we did in Hogansville! I'm almost ashamed to say this but we, well I, bogeyed every hole. The weather was perfect, the throwing on my part - less than perfect. At the 9th hole, I was considering a restart, but we decided to play through since the three of us were having an equally bad day and our scores were competitively close. So that tells you either the course was difficult or we just suck!

Hogansville really is a nice course. The cost is $5 for the day (not per game). There is camping available nearby and "Cousin Larry" has a little shop for snacks, discs and his hand made bags. Check it out. I couldn't find a map of the course online. If you know of one, let me know in the comments.

Playing in the winter, all the tees were fairly visible. My friends & I agreed we should try to play in the summer when the leaves block nearly all visibility of the holes creating more of a challenge.

Check out what other have to say: here (a little dated) and here.

On another note, be sure and stop by the store after hole 3 for a beverage, you'll need it as the back set is pretty far in the woods.

UPDATE: Here is a link to a map of Meriweather Ant Farm (Hogansville) from the Disc Golf Atlanta.

Front Page News

Last night several friends and I headed down to Front Page News for a bite to eat and a beer. The place wasn't really what I was expecting, but a pleasant surprise none the less. The food was great, portions substantial and ambiance was nice. Above the bar there was an elevated miniature train and a street car constantly on the go. We visited the location in L5P. The area map is on the L5P site is outdated, but Front page is located in building 28, denoted as Asher Appliances. L5P has always been a favorite of area of town, and I hope to move closer in the near future.

This morning I met some friends at Caribou for a wake-up cup and to study, read and work. Tomorrow we're off to play some discage down in Hogansville. We played this course on New Years Day this year. The course is challenging with long throws and trees come in to play if you're a terrible throw like me. (My belief is that trees and plastic are magnetic and whenever they get close, bam! they hit)

Well, time to go explore more of ATL. More later.

Annoyance last night

Last night I went to Barnes & Noble to do a little WiFi surfing with my Tungsten C. After a little research on a topic, I headed to the section where my topic was located in the store. Upon finding an interesting book I was approached by one of those dreaded pyramid pushers - you know one of those "Start your own business, be your own boss" schemes. This is one thing I dislike, being interupted by someone under the premise of having a similar interest as mine, only to change the topic to try and sell me something. Really. I don't like it. Should I have grabbed an employee and pointed out the "Soliciter"? Probably, but no, I let him ramble for a little bit and toss out "$80,000 to $100,000 in income" repeatedly. Finally, I told him that seemed a little low. Remarkably, he came up with an example of someone he "knew" made $175,000 in only 14 months. Wow!

Apparently I have missed this band-wagon and need to rethink the choices I've made. But, I'll put that off until I really need to. It's nice to know that I have fall back options. I'm perfectly happy with my current employment and enjoy many benefits, not just monetary, but personal friendships and various perks that this job allows me. I'm quite happy, a little stressed, but happy. So, should I visit this guys website? Should I find out how much it will cost me to be a customer and shop at "his" web site? No, I think I'll just keep shopping directly with online sources I know and trust.

Starting a new life, sort of.

I've always been one to start a journal, only to find it months or years later with only 10 entries. This is my attempt at starting a new life and being dedicated to organizing and completing a task. With this site I will be putting in thoughts as they occur, I'm not promising daily entries, but occassional rants and raves on the topic of my moment. (yes, my moment)

The below entry (Breaking up done easy) was a chain of thought moment. I often have moments like that and will periodically post such chains as they occur. But that's not all I plan on doing. Soon I will have a digital camera, at which time I will upgrade and rearrange this site to include photos of my small town. (ok, it's not that small) As of recently I had a very active social life. My friends and I had a weekly trivia team that met at a local pizza joint. We also played a few rounds of "discage" every now and then. Many of the clubs have been visited, and the local watering hole, or holes, or dives, or places to drink were visited.

Ah, but now I want to do something different. Something more introverted, yet open. Very private, but in a public kinda way. I've sat in the woods to ponder, had sand up my butt while frying in the sun, had people honk at me in my moments of deep thought, missed my mouth while eating - but that's normal, all to figure out something "different". Alas, I've decided to run away. Become something different. All my life I have been molded and shaped. Well, quite frankly I ended up moldy and shaky. I can think for myself, once I've been allowed the time, which is coming more frequently since the strings have been stretched and/or broken. (more on that later) My life will soon be on parade with the best of 'em, and I'll be the gum that gets stuck to their shoes, only to be discovered at the most inopportune time. So, with that... I introduce Slingerdoo. A single, 30ish, wannabe that just tossed his ball cap into something he doesn't know crap about, but if he slings hard enough, somethings gotta stick!

Disclaimer: My rants will most likely make little sense, are meant to be in humorous form. Mis-spellings, improper grammar and use of punctuation are all my fault, gladly accepted and promptly ignored! I have been an active investor in Carribou and Starbucks, one latte at a time. The jittery java makes me joyfully jumpy and that is often reflected in my double typing and fat-fingering. You are welcome to leave comments, I sometimes read them. Any suggestions on sites to see, places to visit, people to meet, things to do, drinks to drink, bands to listen to are always welcome. I love indy music, often listening to college radio as opposed to main stream top 40 stuff. I hope you find some of my thoughts entertaining and my links interesting.
UNP,
Slingerdoo
